Below are sample images for our original maps so you can see the type of map you will receive

I aim to provide good quality original maps at an affordable price. Most maps are in excellent condition and have seen little, if any use. Remains of library stamp[s] may be present on the outer margins. If you are unsure which map covers your particular village, farm, etc. [only a few street names will be shown as it depends on the available space on each map] please enquire if you need help.

Provisional/1st Series 1946-1968

2½ inch [1:25,000] Scale – Colour:

The ‘Provisional/1st series’ [around 2000 maps] are the ‘flat’ [unfolded] edition in colour. They were published between 1946 and 1977 using the national grid letter codes and numbers [‘HP40’ Baltasound [Shetland] to ‘TV69’ in Eastbourne]. They are ideal for framing and show many features that have since disappeared – especially the railways before the Beeching axe and wartime airfields.

2nd/Pathfinder Series 1965-1996

2½ inch [1:25,000] Scale – Colour:

The later ‘2nd/Pathfinder series’ maps in colour are folded. They were published between 1965 and 1996. There are usually two maps combined using the same ‘letter & number’ codes as the 1st series. This later changed to a simpler ‘number’ system [1 to 1370].

1954-1992

6 Inch [1:10,000 & 10,560] Scale – Black & White:

Larger scale maps with contours [in pale orange]. Names of roads and individual properties are usually shown.

1947-1981

25 Inch [1:2500] Scale – Black & White:

Large scale, very detailed maps.  Without contours shown but field and boundaries and acreages entered, also selected numbers of houses.

1959-1977 [2 x 1km. Edition]

25 Inch [1:2500] Scale – Black & White:

This edition are two maps combined onto one sheet. Large scale, very detailed maps. Without contours shown but field and boundaries and acreages entered, also selected numbers of houses.

1947-1979

50 Inch [1:1250] Scale – Black & White:

The largest scale with similar details to the 25 inch maps.
